Environmental Club News

The Environmental Club will be having 2 Saturday workdays in April--April 9th and April 23rd, from 10:00am-12:00pm.  Anyone with a love of gardening is invited to help!!  We need weed pullers, parents to use weed-eaters, trimmers, etc.
To Celebrate Earth Day on Friday, April 22nd, the 4th & 5th graders will have their annual spring
SOS (Spruce up Our School). We are asking for donations of sun loving flowers (begonias, zinnias, lantana, verbena, petunias, vinca, portulacca, black eyed susans, daisies, etc) and lawn-and-leaf garbage bags.  If you’d like to join us for our SOS cleanup project, we would love to have you!  We could use a truck to help us haul limbs and garbage bags to the curbs for pickup, parents who could use gas-powered weed-whackers for trim work around the curbs, and parents who could bring hedge trimmers to help us trim bushes.  More info will be coming with the 4th & 5th graders.

Candy Bar Fundraiser

Great job so far, Panthers!  We’re doing well on sales and still have several days to go.  All money and unopened boxes are due at school no later than April 12.

Mobile Ark Visits BES

A 2nd grader up close and personal with a snake?  A 5th grader touching a tarantula?  Yes!  As a thank you to our students for participating in the Candy Bar Fundraiser, we are bringing the Mobile Ark to BES.  This is a program that brings in exotic and endangered animals into the school.  The children will get to see and learn all about them!

So when your child gets home, sit back and listen to his or her exciting tale of the animals’ visit!!
